How I lost 33 pounds in 3 months.(Part 2)
68In this second part I will tell you my diet plan and what to expect in this time period. So far it seems like a big production and a ton of money just to get started. It was very well worth the effort but at the time it was very difficult. Why?
On my first week my diet went down from almost 3,000 calories in take to 900 a day. I was instructed not to exercise until I was over the first week or two. My breakfast choices where limited to this: 1- one cup of cereal in my case Special K or generic Cheerios with half a cup of milk and 4 ounces’ of orange juice. If it has a toy in it is not good for you… 2- Instant oatmeal with water. Any flavor is ok then a cup (8 oz) of coffee in my case with milk and sugar (splenda).
3- One egg boiled or scrambled with the spray oil. One slice of bread make sure is the one that is 35 or 45 calories per slice a normal slices usually is 70 calories. If you are not having the toast you can have 2 eggs then the coffee or the orange juice. You can have any other kind of juice but I prefer the orange in the morning or apple. A dash of salt or pepper is ok.
I was instructed to eat in my first 30 minutes of been up. I was to drink water in between my meals and snacks no less than 64 ounces a day. This I had to get use to for I’m not much of a water drinker but I was able to use the crystal light and other water flavoring half the time until my cravings for Sodas calmed down. Then I worked my way up to 2/3 of the time I had water. I was to eat every 2 and half hours. So For snacks I had the fallowing options at first:
1- Yogurt, low fat, low calories
2- Protein bars, special K, Fit ant Active brand, fiber chewy bars or generic
3- Slim fast shacks. They are the only ones I can tolerate.
Always making sure they are no more than 100 calories worth of snacks. At times I would get the 100 calories snack packs.
Then for lunch I was to have one cup of soup of any kind I could have even cream soups. Remember just one cup. No crackers or bread with it for the first month after the first month you can have a few crackers or a slice of bread with your soup my favorite is to take a wrap brush some olive oil with basil or cilantro on both sides and cutting it with a pizza cutter and baking it for 7-10 minutes making my own tortilla chips. I got tired of can soups so I made my own. My favorite soup is Black bean soup Mexican style learned it from a Mexican friend. I will be making another Hub page with the recipe. I can’t stop eating this one. I don’t like pickled cactus but I can eat it in this soup and can’t get enough.
Remember two and half hours later another snack from the choices above. Drink water in between.
For Dinner greens and 3 to 5 ounces of any meat if you feel the need to pile anything else on that plate you can only do the greens. Salads, grilled vegetables Are my favorite if you use carrots make sure you shave them not chunk them in your salad. Makes it look like you have more when you have less. Then two and half hours later have another snack. Drink what ever water you have left to drink for the day. I do it now because if I drink anything before bed I usually have to get up 2 times during the night. So I drink anything 2 hours before bed time.
What can you expect? The first 3 days are the worst. All I could do was look at the watch and had nothing but my next meal on my mind. I got all the symptoms of a drug addict on rehab. Got the sweats, the chills, depression, mood swings you name it I got it. By the third day I got used to the routine enough and stopped looking at the watch constantly. In this part I recommend to be patience and the help of a family member my husband was very helpful during this time you will not think straight. The first reaction is to think this diet is making me sick I feel worst than when I started. So you give up…Don’t do it! The first week is the worst but it won’t last much longer. You feel very weak but as you get in the routine you are retraining your body to a much better routine and speeding up your metabolism with constant mini food coming in. By the second week I was able to take 30 minute walks in the park every other day. No speed walking at this point, just a nice walk in the park drinking water as I go.
