Upper Cervial Care
So a friend of mine with fibro said that she considers herself cured from Fibromyalgia because she has hardly any pain for long periods of time because of a Specialist Chiropractor for upper cervical care. Her mom has fibro too I have read something about if someone in the family has fibro you are likely to get it too. In my friends case she told me that her fibro was trigger by a whiplash on a car accident when she was about 20 years old. Apparently the two weird shaped vertebras on the base of the scull had shifted and were pinching her spinal cord. She went for adjustments and after her fifth session she said her fibro pain stopped. Now she goes for maintenance about two to three months and has hardly any fibro issues.
I decided to try it since it does appear that my issues where also cause by two car accidents before my 20’s. I found the closes to be in Ashville about one hour twenty minutes from home. I am willing to give it a try. My husband too will be check for his dad has Chiari Malformation and this is usually inherited. My father – in – law had no symptoms of it until his early 50’s. My husband has been having constant and severe headaches and is going to see if this chiropractor can determine if he maybe experiencing the start of the Chiari symptoms.
I found this link to more information on this particular practice and fibromyalgia:

Our appointment is this Wednesday so I will continue this hub when I get back to give you more info of our experience.
We arrived at appointment on time. The drive wasn't bad. We had filled out the online forms so that speeds up the process after 10 min we were both called in for the orientation. We discuss each of our issues and how long we had them. What are the present symptoms so on and so on. I did like the professionalism and she wasn’t in a rush to get rid of us. She took her time and we both sat on each other consultation so my husband had a chance to express what concern him on my symptoms and I got a chance to express what worried me about his.
After then came the manual tests. She would check if we had a shoulder higher than the other. We both have the left side higher than the other. She would make us close our eyes to see if our head shifted to one side or the other. We both did to the left. She pushes on our heads down in different positions to see what part if any it bothered us. My discomfort mostly neck my husband was mid – back. She did a sensitivity test too. Were with eyes closed you had to described how the little roller thing that she past over our arms felt and if any felt more intense than the other did the same in both legs. She would make us stand in front of a mirror and with eyes closed make us walk on the same place. While she stands over our shoulder looking at our movements. After all that was done she past on to explain the processes and her findings in normal terms and what she believes to be our issues.
Then after agreeing to treatment to confirm her thoughts she takes three X- rays of each of our heads clamping our heads to a board at different angles. I got two additional X-rays in my lower back to see why it was swollen. She said it was in her manual test. I was first seen like she said I’m a “special case”. She wasn't kidding. We discussed one of the X-rays a side shot of my head and shoulders. This is what was found. I have lost the natural curve on my neck that is what they call having your head forward. I have in six of my vertebras on the back of them calcification's’ and two bone spurs that look more like two bad shaped vertebras for they are in the front of them. So basically my neck is fusing together front and back. She even showed me what she believes to be evidence of my neck injury from the car accidents. She measure the position of ears in comparison with where they should be from my shoulders and explain that it still in the reversible stage she mention that if they get my curve back, since I’m young my body should suck back those calcium deposits she said she has seen it happen in other patience’s. The space between my last vertebra and my skull is very narrow and she is afraid it may fuse too bone on bone not good.
My husband also had a weird x-ray his neck is tilted from the side view you could see the two surfaces of the vertebras in his neck of course that is not normal. He also had the beginning of fusion on one of his lower neck vertebras on the front. So we start treatment next week. Excited to finally get some thing done about this, not so happy to find I’m so mess up and that it’s possible that the reason for my fibro is the calcification putting pressure on my nerve system. So the messages are getting screwed up coming down and up to my brain. We will test this theory out in our treatment. In my case a one year treatment, I’m hopeful if it worked for my friend it may work for me. Then again every fibro patient is so different but I will give this a try.
I will continue to write more as I learn new things and I will make sure to share this with others. Fibromyalgia: My Life’s Journey continues
